It’s been a while since I last posted - like a really really long time. Need some feedback on purchasing a vehicle. I’m looking at the following and any suggestions are welcome.
E92 M3,
997 4S,
997 911 Turbo, F80 M3, F10 M5.
These range from 35k to 75k for pretty good examples. What provides the best bang for the buck. I drove the 997 Turbo and while I really really enjoyed it. I personally felt it might be too much for normal roads. Thoughts?

I’d go for a 997 2s unless weather is a concern or you want the awd.

I’d throw an ISF in that list if you’re not looking at manual only .

If you’re looking for something that’s closest to the bottom of the depreciation curve, I think the 997 C4S is your best bet, followed closely by the Turbo. Not sure if you’re considering 997.1 or 997.2, but if the Turbo you were considering was a 997.1, you can easily afford a 997.2 C4S, which is a nice improvement over the 997.1.

997 C4S, or turbo but I prefer the N/A 997's. I owned an E90M3 and it was great, but not as great as any 997S I’ve driven and it was very expensive to maintain. As for the F80 and F10, I’ve only driven the F80. It’s nice but not special. I’m all set on newer bimmers.

That list is mouth watering, I love my E90 M3, but if I had the money, I’d probably have a turbo.

I’ve only driven the 997 S and F80 M4 ( back to back) , but for my $, I’d go with the 997 4S or E92. I think they would be the most accessible on the street, and they’re both great cars. Haven’t heard good things on the F10, but that’s second hand.
997 has a heavy clutch and odd pedal placement IMHO, but otherwise brilliant.
How about a 986 Boxster/ Cayman S? Ridiculous fun, same price range.

Is it worth the extra money? You could have two E90's or one Turbo. I know that is an inane analysis, but still...

I commented elsewhere regarding this - you could essentially have two E92 M3's or one 997 Turbo. I know it’s inane, but still...

I guess it depends on what you’re using it for. The M3/M5 would certainly be more liveable if it’s going to be your primary or even secondary vehicle (or if you have friends/kids). I prefer the E92 to the F80, but that varies with personality. I feel that the F10 is just *too* much...everything to really enjoy.
That being said, the 997s are about as low as they’re going to get in the market and probably appreciate greatly over the next ten years. If I had the money, I’d buy the Porsche even if the M3 was a little bit more fun, just because I’m like that.

I’m not really sure. I’ve only had a short drive in a 996 turbo. The E9X M3 is a pretty excellent car, is the turbo worth double the cost? I don’t know. The seat time I have had in Porsches has opened my eyes as to why people pay so much for them. They’re both fantastic cars, but they are different.

Yea but the Turbo is a lot more car than an E9x. I’m in the market for a 997C2S. I considered one when I bought my E90M3 (2013) but decided on the E90 because there were more available at reasonable prices.

I recommend a Tesla Model S. You should be able to get a lightly used one within your budget.

Get a 997 Carrera S if the Turbo was too much (which is totally understandable as it pushes the power-to-weight ratio into uncomfortable territory for a daily/fun car). They’re great (IMS prevention provided).
